Winterfest Hunter Jumper Series

Apr 18/10: Results This show doubled in size from the first show of the "Start Up" Series last month, and it turned out to be a beautiful Spring day. Thanks to entries from Bayview EC, Oakville EC, Donnalan Equestrian, Leatherstone EC, Starview Stables, and last but least Owlstone, travelling all the way from Trenton. Thank you to Course Designer Christine Wright for setting up the courses so well, and Neal Bertin for preparing the arenas, and footing. Show Photographer Lindsay Piggot was on site again. Apr 4/10: Results , Championship Points and updated Winterfest Jumper Series High Point standings. The courses and jumps looked great, thanks to Course Designer Mark Martin and his builder assistant Anne Zander. The footing was excellent and the best I have seen for some time thanks to the preparation by RCRA. Show photos are found at Andrew Bailini's web site. Congratulations to Ashley MacDougall and Lollipop and Jake Elder and Cairo earning high points for the day. Thank you to riders and trainers who came to the show on this beautiful Spring day. Mar 27 & 28/10: Saturday was the last 2010 Winterfest Jumper Show at Iron Horse, and Sunday was the last 2010 Winterfest Hunter Show at Iron Horse plus the HUNTER FINALE Show to end the 2010 Winterfest Hunter Series. Ken Rose with Maestro, and Shelly George and Davign Amour, both had a good day in Saturday's jumper classes taking them up the standings for the Winterfest Series High Point Champion to be decided April 25. Current High Point Jumper standings. Leading point earners for hunter day were Worth Every Penny ridden by Alisha Watson this time, and Maggie May with Jaclyn Perichak. Congratulations to 2010 Winterfest Hunter Series High Point Champion Absolute Lily ridden by Claire Batista and trained by Linda Hale, Old Orchard Farm. They earned 591 points throughout the Winterfest Hunter Series, leading the list of 112 hunters who competed in the 2010 Winterfest Hunter Series. Winterfest Hunter Series High Point Chart. Congratulations again to Absolute Lily and Claire Batista who were Champion Hunter for the 2010 Winterfest Hunter Series at Iron Horse EC. Congratulations also to Bello Mio, ridden by Neal Bertin and Kristina Riley, and owned by Sophia Belmonte for winning the Jumper Championship for the 2010 Winterfest Hunter Series at Iron Horse EC. Bello Mio is also leading the Winterfest Jumper High Point standings. Winterfest Series Championship Charts. Our thanks to HorseSmart International www.horsesmart.ca who donated coolers and gift certificates for the Champion Hunter and Champion Jumper for the 2010 Winterfest Series at Iron Horse ending Mar 27 & 28. HorseSmart also donated coolers and gift certificates for the 2010 Winterfest Series High Point Hunter Award winner, and High Point Jumper Award winner for distribution at the end of the Finale shows Mar 28 and Apr 25 respectively.

Mar 21/10: The first Winterfest "Start Up" Show, held at Oakville EC was a fun day with primarily younger riders or younger horses taking advantage of hunter/jumper/equitation and gymkhana classes offered. While not a big turn out it is a start to something new and we will see how this series develops. Next show is April 18. We will review the schedule to see how we can enhance it so check it again before the next show. Thank you to Leatherstone EC, Oakville EC, and others for supporting the show with their students. Mar 14/10: This was likely a show that should have been cancelled with the windy, wet weather, March Break, strangles rumours... which the hunter classes were. The group who arrived nevertheless had a good time schooling. Thanks to Rebecca Roy for doing a good job with the hunter and jumper courses, assisted by Jessica Pfeffer. In the jumper classes Pat Allen and RCS Shadrach were back in action after hip surgery, and Rob Donaldson was there with Ruby and Marley, young horses from Millcreek. As this was the final show in that series, congratulations to Winterfest at Black's Series Champions: Hunter - Elite ridden by Danielle Wellings and Haley Baker; and Jumper - Embellished Eminence ridden by Jess Wong. Congratulations to Bello Mio ridden by Kristina Riley who had a successful day taking them almost to the top for the Winterfest Jumper Series at Iron Horse Championship to date, and Just in Tyme and Shania Palmer who took over the lead for the Winterfest Jumper Series High Point Champion. For the Hunter Show, Absolute Lily and Claire Batista, plus So Sumi with Alanna Ulbikas and Natalie Dowswell both had a very good show. Absolute Lily takes over the lead for the Winterfest Hunter Series at Iron Horse Championship, and So Sumi is tied with Warsaw ridden by Lisa Spackman in the lead for the Winterfest Hunter Series High Point Champion to date.

Congratulations to Elite ridden by Danielle Wellings and Haley Baker who had a successful day taking them to the top for the Winterfest Hunter Series at Black's Championship to date, and Run For The Money and Luanna Montag who led the way for points from the jumper classes, moving up on Embellished Eminence and Jess Wong.

Feb 6 & 7/10: Results for Jumper Show Feb 6 and Results for Hunter Show Feb 7 and Championship Points There was a very good turn out for the first Winterfest Series Shows at Iron Horse EC. We thank the management for preparing the facility and footing so well, providing the expanded parking area closer to the arena, plus use of the second floor viewing area. Thank you to Course Designer Krista Heitbohmer and Assistants Mark Martin and Christine Wright, and Hunter Judge Robin Howard who helped us efficiently get through a busy hunter day.

Congratulations to Rudy Valentino and Emily Steenson earning 217 jumper points, leading the way for the Winterfest Jumper Series Championship at Iron Horse, plus taking over the High Point Jumper lead for the overall Winterfest Series. Caitlin Goff and Take A Good Look earned 233 hunter points, to take the early lead for the Winterfest Hunter Series at Iron Horse. Springhill Tucker ridden by Tegan Wordley moved to the top for the High Point Hunter Award for the overall Winterfest Series with 4 hunter shows to go. Thank you to riders, trainers and supporters who helped us complete 117 jumper rounds and 205 hunter/eq over fences rounds plus 8 flat classes over the weekend without going late. This was a great way to start the Winterfest Series, returning for a third year to this location.

Jan 31/10: Results and Championship Points The new Four Seasons Horse Shows jumper material was in use for this show, and received many compliments. Thank you to Course Designer Mike Radan and Assistant Santana Wright for their commitment to preparing varied and successful courses. Congratulations to Kailee Dane and Little Creek Misty earning 128 points, leading the way for the Winterfest Jumper Series at RCRA, plus taking over the High Point Jumper lead, but with Samson and Sydney Mascard close behind. Thank you to riders completing 79 jumper rounds, plus their trainers and supporters who attended this first show of this new series on a particularly cold weekend. Next Winterfest Series Jumper Show at RCRA is Feb 28 after shows at Iron Horse and Black's. We look forward to growth from show to show as occurred at other Winterfest Series sites in their first year.

Jan 24/10: Results and Championship Points This show was a positive start for our first 2010 Winterfest Show at this location, and for the overall 2010 Winterfest Series. 38 horses entered to begin the Winterfest Series Hunter/Jumper Shows at Black's Equine Centre, completing 117 hunter and jumper rounds, plus 3 flat classes, up 85% from the first show at this location last year. We enjoyed a fairly mild day for the end of January. The courses were looking good with newly painted jumps, additional decoration, and some new jumper material. We appreciate how the facility staff prepared the footing so well in the rings. Thank you to Course Designer Krista Heitbohmer and Assistant Rebecca Roy who are training to be accredited course designers.

Competitors gained a head start on the Series Championships and overall Winterfest Series High Point Awards, plus entering their ballots into the second annual Winterfest Series draw for 50,000 AeroPlan points. San Fransisqo ridden by Stefanie Pryde and Megan Donati are leading the way in the Hunter Championship with 222 points, but with Springhill Tucker and Tegan Wordley close behind with 220. Embellished Eminence and Jess Wong take the early lead in the Jumper Championship. Results and Championship Charts are posted using the link above.
